What Causes Female Hair Loss?
There are a wide variety of female hair loss causes that affect women of all ages. Female hair loss is definitely not a “one size fits all” phenomenon; it can be gradual or sudden, permanent or temporary. While female hair loss typically occurs as you get older, it can happen at any age.
But there are a host of other reasons why women experience thinning hair and baldness, including high levels of stress to the central nervous system, such as occurs in childbirth or many longtime Covid-19 sufferers, as well as hair loss induced by certain medical treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation treatments. A variety of scalp conditions can also cause female hair loss, including psoriasis, scarring alopecia, trichotillomania, and thyroid disorders.
